Decades of planting filled it with mature trees and exotic species brought back by sailors and naval officers from voyages abroad, giving it a botanical range unusual for the region. Shaded paths and open lawns make it a calm green counterpoint to the marina nearby, open freely to residents and walkers throughout the year.
